LATEST NEWS

The 1,000th home completed for Helen Stephens was celebrated early Saturday morning.

The hard work of around 30 volunteers left the 88-year-old nearly speechless. She received the 1,000th home to be rehabilitated from the group ‘Rebuilding Together Warner Robins’.

“I don’t even know the words to say, awesome is the biggest word I can think of, it’s just awesome,” Stephens says. “I’m so honored and blessed that they choose me to do this.”

The group does extensive home rehab projects for low-income homeowners. They depend solely on volunteers doing work like lawn care, painting, roofing, and plumbing.

Dianne Bowe says she became a volunteer eight years ago for many reasons, but for one in particular, saying, “This could one day be me.”

ABOUT REBUILDING TOGETHER

Rebuilding Together Warner Robins (RTWR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the lives of vulnerable communities by providing low-income homeowners with critical home repairs (e.g electric, plumbing, roofing, heating..), accessibility modifications, energy-efficient upgrades as well as painting and landscaping services.

Rebuilding Together Warner Robins is responding to a crisis in our community – an aging affordable housing stock and the growing number of people who, because of age, disability or lack of resources, live in dilapidated or inaccessible housing. The correlation between household income and housing needs is undeniable, especially for lower-income homeowners. Our work has an impact on the individual homeowners and Warner Robins as a whole. Everyone deserves to live in a home that provides warmth, safety and dignity. We can accomplish this by revitalizing the existing housing stock of our communities, thus bringing forth positive and healthy changes in Warner Robins.
